SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA S-GAUGERS CLUB

Modular

Modular Layout
The idea for a modular layout was proposed so club members could participate in the NMRA National Train Show in Anaheim, California held on July 19-20, 2008. Since that time the club has displayed modular layouts at four to six train shows per year, including the NASG/NMRA joint convention in Sacramento, California on July 7-10, 2011.

The club's modular layout consists of four club-owned corner modules and numerous member-owned straight modules that comply with the club's module specifications shown below.  A club layout can range in size from 14' x 14' to 30' x 30' depending on the venue. If you are ready to build a module, adherence to these specifications ensures that your finished module will properly interface physically and electrically with other members' modules. Except for complying with the physical dimensions, daisy-chaining rail power using the club's standard connectors, and providing two main rail lines there are no other club restrictions on your module's layout.
  • Note: if your layout requires more than 4 ft. (for example: 6 ft.) you would have to build two modules of equal size to preserve the overall symmetry of a club display.
